Key Takeaways

Hackstone’s team bios may look like professional introductions, but in reality they’re roast sessions disguised as camaraderie. Every team member brings a unique blend of creativity, chaos, and caffeine to the table (and occasionally baked goods), all wrapped in a shared sense of humor. Behind the jokes is a seriously talented group obsessed with making something awesome, and if you like your marketing with equal parts genius and ridiculousness, you’ve found your people.

Well, well, well, we meet again …

Or have we met?

If you’ve landed here, maybe you’ve already heard about our “three-brain” approach to video marketing. Or perhaps you’ve heard tell of how we help businesses use storytelling and videos to fill their brand’s god-shaped hole.

And now you want to meet the humans behind the operation here at Hackstone … to see what all the fuss is about?

In keeping with our mantra that people have feelings and use those feelings to make decisions, we looked for the most vulnerable route one could take in writing staff introductions. We came up with a list of questions, deeply personal in nature, and randomly assigned co-workers to write half-truths and embarrassing anecdotes about one another.

Think of it as Survivor meets The Office meets lame corporate ice breaker activities.

We do have an “About Us” page on Hackstone’s website, but it mostly says the things that your boss wants to hear before releasing this year’s marketing budget.

Nay, this page is for the rest of us. The ones who like humor in commercials and think stiff corporate advertising sucks. The ones who, yes, get excited about KPIs and ROAS, but also love intentionally awkward outros.

When you finish reading Hackstone’s employee bios* below, just know we’d actually love to meet you in real life. As you’ll see, we’re harmless and actually kind of fun to be around.

*Legal disclosure: Bios were written by co-workers who have no shame and who were compensated for their time. Do not read bios if you have no sense of humor.

Meet The Hackstone Team

Introducing Scott Loraditch

By Vanessa Hoffberger

Official Title: Technical Director / Editor / Cinematographer

Unofficial Title: Human Swiss Army knife

Scott Loraditch of Hackstone

Scott, who joined Hackstone in 2018, came out of the womb with a camera in hand. If he ever quits his job here, he’d probably try to open a gourmet hot dog stand outside M&T Bank Stadium.

Asked to describe Scott’s superpower, Vanessa offered this completely-made-up statement:

“I help clients visualize their stories by filming, editing, coloring, and meticulously planning the technicalities, and I bring the experience and dedication of a seasoned pro mixed with the calm of a zen master so that we make something awesome!”

Honestly, Scott really is important around here!

“My superpower is being the ultimate office utility player and the undisputed king of ‘can-do,’ which is probably why I have the longest job title out of anyone. While I’m known for filming and editing, I’m also our resident colorist,” Scott says.

“Any project that Hackstone has released, I’ve touched in some capacity (how many people can say that?). Whatever you throw at me, I figure out a way to get it done. Aside from all that, I’m known for something even more fundamental: being the nicest, most relentlessly helpful person you’ll ever meet, with a work ethic that could power a small city.”

Plus, he brings home-made baked goods to the office fairly often.

Introducing Dan Hack

By Megan Kuhn

Official Title: CEO & Creative Director

Unofficial Title: The Creative Control Freak (in a good way)

Additional Unofficial Titles: Gluten H8r, Marketing Whisperer, Taylor Swift’s Biggest Fan, The German Martin Scorsese of Commercials & Branding, CEO of “What if we tried this?”

Dan Hack of Hackstone

Dan, who excels at the unnecessary art of telling awkward stories at the exact wrong time, founded Hackstone after graduating from the School of Trial and Error in The Real World.

Asked about what, if anything, Dan could brag about, Megan dug deep for this: “I love marketing. Like, LOVE marketing. Like, love marketing so much that I even wanted to name my firstborn ‘Ad,’ but my wife vetoed that. So, we landed on Evan. Little does she know, Evan actually stands for Engagement, Virality, Awareness, and Narrative

“Lucky for me, I was born with a specific set of skills. Sure, one of them is telling awkward stories at exactly the wrong time. But another is coming up with ideas that are different, maybe make your eyes go wide, and most importantly, actually work. Ideas that make your brand stand out and draw people in.”

We’d also like to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to Lowes, where Dan worked as a teenager. Rumor has it they still have trouble convincing employees in the plumbing section that he’s not ever coming back.

But really, what does Dan do around here?

“I help clients take a good idea and turn it into a fully fleshed-out creative concept that won’t stop haunting me until it’s released from the shackles of idea-land and is brought to life. I dig into their audience, their brand, and obsess (borderline unhealthily) until the perfect idea shows up so that we make something awesome.”

Plus, he is getting pretty good at playing things other than Dave Matthews Band covers on guitar.

Introducing Max Harris

By Dan Hack

Official Title: Director/Editor

Unofficial Title: In-House Dictionary & Legal Counsel

Max Harris of Hackstone

Max, who really is a lawyer (and has the vocabulary to prove it), stresses about each project the way an Italian mother stresses about her kids going out into the world.

Since joining Hackstone in 2021, Max has taught us words like “fastidious” and “lugubrious.” But perhaps what’s really important to note is that, according to Dan, Max “feels the music” in a world full of chumps who just read the notes.

But he’s not just a misunderstood artist or tortured jurist.

“Max has an inability to just ‘make it work,’” Dan explains without explaining really anything at all.

That and he brings the overthinking that “looks unhinged at first, but pays off big so that we make something awesome!”

In the world according to Max, it’s clear that “Clients choose Hackstone because we seriously care more about your project than you do, and it doesn’t hurt that we all do yoga together to clear our heads so we can be in the best mindset for work.”

What’s more, his dad was the lead editor for Married With Children. And we don’t think that’s relevant here at all, but Dan wrote that on the form, so there you go.

Oh, and he’s a real big Stephen King fan.

We’re sorry you had to read this.

Introducing Kate Kennedy

By Scott Loraditch

Official Title: Animator

Unofficial Title: Wizard/Getaway Driver/3-Star Michelin Chef of Deep-Frying Animation

Kate Kennedy of Hackstone

Kate, once (and only once) described as the “Indiana Jones of exploring abandoned malls,” has been with Hackstone since 2023.

She often thinks about what life would be like to get out of this joint.

“If I didn’t work at Hackstone, I would go on a road trip in my Subaru Forrester with my faithful feline companion, Willa, and explore every abandoned mall in the world while jamming to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.”

But instead, she’s been with Hackstone since graduating from the Ringling College of Art and Design, which is a really cool place full of very fine people, and it’s where Kate honed her skills around the “gloriously sweet, delicious eye candy” that is animation.

Asked about Kate’s obvious talent, Scott exceeded the word limit in our staff questionnaire with a long, rambling statement in the first person about “dazzling pixels” and how she uses “a wide palette of textures and colors.” Here’s a hastily edited version of what he had to say:

“My animations evoke emotions. Every. Single. Time. Using a wide palette of textures and colors, I weave together a web that immediately catches your attention and ensnares you until you forget where you are, and quite frankly, don’t care because the dazzling pixels gleaming

into your eyes just make everything better.

“2D, 3D, hand-drawn, CGI – I do it all. Want me to recreate your app’s interface in and fun and

engaging way? Easy. Want Pixar-quality 3D animation? I’ve done that. How about a colorful

animation explaining to your kids (and you!) what happens during a thunderstorm? Stay tuned, it’ll be out soon.”

Introducing Karin Kramer

By Dan Hack

Official Title: COO/Principal

Unofficial Title: The Real Boss

Karin Kramer of Hackstone

Karin, who suspiciously did not write anyone else’s bios for this exercise, works here because it’s slightly better than driving a hearse. Seriously, she drove a hearse when she was young.

Asked about Karin’s strengths and contributions, Dan lovingly wrote: “Karin translates wild creative ideas into ‘how much that’s going to cost.’”

He pointed out that Karin makes Hackstone’s clients feel “heard, guided, and supported … And it doesn’t hurt that we’re holding their pets hostage.”

Karin, who carries forward the Hackstone way of having an advanced degree that isn’t being used in her current field of employment, is unshakeable and shocked by nothing. She enjoys true crime stories and, according to our lawyers, we should mention that she’s on the record as saying she’s not “using that as research” for anything in particular.

However, should things get heated and Karin finds herself on the lam, we have an inkling of where she might hide out. If Karin weren’t working at Hackstone, Dan says, she’d probably be “living in Ireland designing floral arrangements with the Great British Bake Off playing in the background.”

She’s a real Renaissance woman and we’re glad she’s here!

Introducing Megan Kuhn

By Max Harris

Official Title: Producer

Unofficial Title: Vibe Curator

Megan Kuhn of Hackstone

Megan, who helps fill our unofficial quota of Towson grads at Hackstone, often makes us talk about boring things like deadlines, shoot schedules, location details, equipment checks, and ya-da-ya-da-ya-da.

She is, according to Max, quite the “budget whisperer” and a “reality check enthusiast.”

“I’m often the yin to the creatives’ yang, the adult in the room who has to gently (and sometimes not-so-gently) push back when ideas get a little too pie-in-the-sky. It’s not always an easy role, but in the end, it’s what keeps our projects not just imaginative, but achievable.”

As a reward for Megan’s sharp ability to ground all us yahoos, she was quickly promoted after first joining Hackstone in 2022 as a junior producer. She also knows her way around social media marketing.

“I help clients transform ambitious ideas into real productions by coordinating people, places, and deadlines — and I bring the polish, planning, and calm focus that keep us on track so we make something awesome!”

At night, she goes home to her two adorable feline babies and tries to forget about the stress of herding cats here at the office. Twice per week, you’ll find her in a different studio, leading classes as a certified yoga instructor.

If the video marketing stuff doesn’t work out, Megan has a clear alternative: “If I didn’t work at Hackstone, I would be teaching yoga full-time and moonlighting as a curator of playlists that give yearning sad girl energy.”

Vibes, am I right?

Introducing Jamye McIntyre

By Dan Hack

Official Title: Director of Business Development

Unofficial Title: Resident Travel Advisor

Jamye McIntyre of Hackstone

Jamye, whose first and last name have a beautiful typographical symmetry, has worked at Hackstone for so long that she and the founder are often mistaken for being siblings and they might as well be.

Asked about Jamye’s superpower working with clients, Dan explained: “Jamye helps clients identify solutions by drilling down problems. Jamye is exceptionally skilled at matching client needs with products that genuinely help.”

She’s so naturally good at solving any kind of problem (except IT problems) that our clients call upon her even when their video production has finished just to get advice on things like travel recommendations. No, seriously. They really do that.

And Jamye doesn’t mind. She’s happy to help. But don’t make the mistake of asking for her advice or opinion if you can’t handle the truth. Jamye is honest almost to a fault.

And even when you didn’t ask for it, her energy field is so large and strong that you can feel her coming four minutes before she even walks into a room. Don’t worry, it’s a good thing.

She helps Hackstone clients get to the essence of branding and storytelling by “starting with feelings. Because people don’t click, buy, or share until something hits them in the gut.”

Asked what else Jamye would be doing if she weren’t working here, Dan got combative and answered defiantly: “This reality does not exist, even hypothetically.”

Well, OK then!

Introducing Vanessa Hoffberger

By Kate Kennedy

Official Title: VP of Production

Unofficial Title: Mother/Fashion Icon/NYC Hotspot Sommelier

Vanessa Hoffberger of Hackstone

Vanessa, a forever-Hokie, probably deserves much better than we can give her.

But she puts up with us because she loves helping Hackstone’s clients!

“Think of a maestro conducting a symphony of timelines, client communications, and creative work – turning complex projects into harmonious results. Oh, and they’re doing it all in heels. That’s me.”

Asked what makes Vanessa’s work so vital to the process, Kate wrote: “I help translate client-speak into creative-speak and vice versa; I’m fluent in both. I bring the strategy, finesse, and magic-touch organization so that we make something awesome!”

“Clients choose Hackstone because we know the best way to combine our production and creative expertise to bring every vision to life.” Of course, “it doesn’t hurt that we are a ridiculously charming bunch.”

Over the years, Vanessa has developed “a telekinetic sixth sense for all the hidden twists and turns of production.” Along the way, she’s taken on the role of “Wrangler of the Wayward Creatives.”

“If I didn’t work at Hackstone, I’d be off making the lives of another lucky video production

team much, much easier, leading them to wonder how on earth they’d ever survive without me.”

Please don’t ever leave us, Vanessa!

Introducing Hannah Bearsch

By Dan Hack

Official Title: Editor

Unofficial Title: Gen Z Translator

Hannah Bearsch of Hackstone

Hannah, who joined Hackstone two years ago, knows so many editing hot keys that it makes the rest of us look like we learned post-production in a cave while sitting around a fire.

She is, as Dan puts it, the “queen of short-form social video and hot keys (seriously, she has editing shortcuts that make her look like she’s casting magic spells).” As Gen Z might say, Hannah’s hot keys are fire.

Asked about Hannah’s undeniable superiority when it comes to creating hot social content, Dan describes her as a “low key influencer” who “will be with Hackstone forever. And ever. And ever.”

Here are the words Dan put in Hannah’s mouth: “Everybody is making content. Most people don’t know how to make content that gets watched. I turn raw, seemingly uninspiring footage into content that stands out in a content-saturated world.”

When she’s not on TikTok, you can find Hannah riding horses and generally being cooler than everyone else who works here.

Or, in a worse-case scenario, “If I didn’t work at Hackstone, I would be curled up in a dark room crying.”
